How It Started, How It’s Going
Ingredient turned 30 this year. Kinda. The company known today as Ingredient, which provides expert marketing strategy and is blessed with a remarkable team that produces world-class content wasn’t anything like that back in 1994 when it started. Back then, we were a scrappy group called Electronic Media Group, and our bread and butter (food pun, sorry) was creating digital experiences like interactive kiosks, multimedia CD-ROMS, and websites viewed on the then-brand new Netscape Navigator. Internet connections at home were capped at 56k per second (if we were lucky) and we had only 256 on-screen colors to play with. It was heady stuff. Everything we did was being invented as we went along.
I was sent down this reverie recently when I saw a behind-the-scenes shot of a Thanksgiving shoot we were doing for a client. We had created a complete tablescape on our in-studio set, complete with full lighting set-ups and camera rigs to best recreate a warm holiday spread. The image reminded me of another one from our first food shoot nine years ago. Needless to say, it was much less elaborate.
Now more than ever, it’s critical for small businesses to stay nimble and keep an eye on the curves ahead. I could not be more proud of our team of professionals as they continue this journey with us.
