It’s a Sign: Betty Crocker Zodiac Cakes Win Silver

We’re pleased to announce that Ingredient recently received a Silver Award from The Advertising Federation of Minnesota (AdFed) for our Betty Crocker Zodiac Cakes social media campaign

Fun, customized astrology content resonates with audiences and is highly shareable, so it’s no surprise that the zodiac trend has been popping up everywhere on social media. “This type of marketing campaign is virtually foolproof since consumers love to see personalized predictions — and interact with them, too,” explains Neil Bertucci, Senior Creative Director. “People tend to engage more with content when there’s a personal angle.”

The moment we spotted this trend on social media, we knew it would be a perfect fit for Betty Crocker, one of Ingredient’s longtime clients. Our Zodiac Cakes campaign brought the zodiac to life through dessert, combining the ease and expertise of Betty Crocker with a custom-designed cake recipe for each star sign. Every cake was crafted with ingredients, design, and visuals that captured the essence of its sign, turning personality traits into eye-catching baked creations.

This campaign is a prime example of how our full team of experts comes together to create world class work every day. Virtually every team in the agency contributed to this campaign and helped bring it to life, from content planners, social strategists, and culinary experts to photographers, videographers, and copywriters. This spirit of creative collaboration is just one of the things that sets our agency apart, making a huge impact on the final product.

“This is the kind of work that we aspired to do when we started Ingredient,” President Brian Brown shares. “It pulls together all of our strengths: strategy, creative, culinary, and visual — and of course, the Betty Crocker brand is an important and long-standing partner of our agency. We are very proud of this campaign. It’s best-in-class work and we really wanted to showcase it to see if the rest of the creative community agrees with us.”

Turns out, the feeling is mutual. This award highlights how our culture of collaboration brings projects to the next level — and it was only fitting that a team of Ingredient employees was on hand to accept the award at The Show 2025, an event hosted by AdFed to celebrate the achievements of the Minnesota advertising community.

“It’s personally really rewarding to see the team generate this kind of creative and culinary excellence,” Brian continues. “And it’s important to get outside recognition for this work. We have a top-tier group of creatives doing amazingly awesome things.”
